Nani Mau Gardens is located on the southern edge of historic Hilo town. Here are directions from wherever you might be on the Big Island.

From Hilo

Take the Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 11) south, and take a left on Makalika Street. Nani Mau Gardens will be on your left, immediately after Awa Street.

From Kona

There are 3 routes. From speediest to slowest, they are:

• Saddle Road - Take Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 190) north. Take a right on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Hwy 200) heading east until it merges with Saddle Road. Saddle Road will become Kaumana Drive. Keep right at the fork to merge on to Puainako Drive. Take a right on Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 11), and follow the directions above from Hilo.

• Northern Scenic Route (also for Waimea, Waikoloa, Kohala) - Take Mamalahoa Highway north until it veers east and becomes Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 19). Once in Hilo, take a right on Waianuenue Avenue, followed be an immediate left on Kamehameha Avenue. Take a right on to Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 11), and follow the directions above from Hilo.

• Southern Scenic Route (also for Volcano) - Take Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Hwy 11) south from Kona until it becomes Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 11). This route will take you around the southern tip of the island and past Kilauea Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. After Lama Street, Makalika Street will be your next right. Take a right on Makalika Street and Nani Mau Gardens will be on your left, immediately after Awa Street.
